Asgar Samoon takes over
as Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir

Mr. Asgar Samoon today took over as Divisional
Commissioner, Kashmir, who was recently transferred from CAPD
& Transport and posted as Divisional Commissioner. Later,
he convened a meeting of Revenue Officers and took stock of
the functioning of various departments under his control.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo,
Additional Commissioner Kashmir Abdul Majeed Mir and Abdul
Majeed Wani, SSP Traffic GM Wadoo, OSD With Div Com Aamir Ali
and Assistant Commissioner (Central) Nasir Ahmed Naqash were
present in the meeting. Meanwhile, a large number of
deputations and individuals from various areas also met the
Divisional Commissioner today and apprised him about the
problems relating to CAPD, Land disputes and others. He
assured the deputationists that their genuine problems would
be mitigated. Divisional Commissioner urged upon the officers
to be available to the people and redress their grievances. He
also talked to various HOD’s on phone particularly with
Director, CAPD and Director Health instructing them to ensure
food grains and other essentials to the people. He
directed Director Health to launch a massive awareness
campaign in all the districts regarding preventive measures
and make all essential medicines available at all the medical
centres besides, dispensaries and hospitals for the
convenience of the people. He also directed SSP Traffic to
ensure hassle free movement of trucks with foodgrains and Oil
tankers to various destinations particularly for Kargil and
Leh. Mr. Samoon has served in the valley in various capacities
including Commissioner S.M.C and D.C Srinagar.
