SKEWPY to inculcate entrepreneurship spirit in youth

Programme for youth (SKEWPY) in addressing the
unemployment crisis in the State, Chief Minister, Omar
Abdullah Friday said that this initiative of his
Government was to inculcate entrepreneurship spirit in
educated youth and pave way for creation of large scale
job avenues.
“We see our youth beset with the fashion of pondering for government employment, even if it might be of lower standard”, he said adding that this fashion has to give way to Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurship (MSME) culture to evolve a viable and suitable solution to unemployment problem.
Distributing
seed capital sanction letters to 51 budding
entrepreneurs trained by Jammu and Kashmir
Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) under
SKEWPY at a function, the Hon'ble Chief Minister said
that the new employment initiative of his Government has
started bearing fruit.
Present on the occasion were Minister for PHE and Irrigation, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.S. Slathia, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Higher Education and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik, Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana, Chief Secretary, S.S. Kapur, Economic Advisor, Jaleel Ahmad Khan, Director, JKEDI, M. I. Parray, senior officers and entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister said that there was urgent need to expand the orbit of SKEWPY. He said completion of District Employment Counseling Centers and making youth aware of the benefits of the scheme would give further fillip to it. He said that separate space for J&K Bank was being provided in the Counseling Centers to ensure every facility to intending entrepreneurs at one place. “We want to make the Jammu and Srinagar units of JKEDI as mother centers and develop District Counseling Centers as basic operational units”, he elaborated.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that JKEDI has issued 48 sanction letters to budding entrepreneurs at Srinagar last month and 51 at Jammu at this point in time. “We all should join to encourage the new entrants in the field and ensure their success”, he stressed and termed them the brand ambassadors of SKEWPY. “In your success is the success of the scheme”, he said and told them to work wholeheartedly for achieving the goal adding that Government would be always with them for any help.
Omar said that he was happy to note that lady entrepreneurs have shown equal interest in launch of self employment ventures. “Their good number receiving the seed capital sanction letters today is good omen for the success of the scheme”. He said the ventures selected by the budding entrepreneurs were of variety and viable nature. He expressed the hope for their flourishing and prayed for their success.
The Chief Minister said that ample funds have been made available to JKEDI to train the youth, sanction seed capital and help entrepreneurs in preparation of detailed project reports besides ensuring hassle free loan from J&K Bank.
Date for filing returns extended up to 20th Dec
December 03-The government has extended last date for filing of returns for the first and second quarters of the current financial year up to 20th December pursuance of proviso to sub-rule (2) of rule 28 of Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax Rules.
December 03-The government today brought amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax Rules, 2005 in exercise of the powers conferred under section 85 of VAT.
According to a notification issued by Finance department, in rule 16 for the words “five years”, wherever occurring, the words “six years” shall be substituted.
In proviso to sub rule (2) of rule 28, for the words “three months” the words “six months” shall be substituted.
In sub- rule (2) of rule 55 for the letter and figure “Rs 10,000” the letter and figure “Rs 50,000” shall be substituted.
