Stranded vehicles;

 

Srinagar-Jammu NHW closed for Traffic due to snow fall. Around 100 vehicles stranded near Tunnel. Passengers shifted to safe locations by District Administration Anantnag and Banihal (Ramban).  

 

Div Com Kashmir deputed Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to personally monitor the movement of stranded vehicles.  50 vehicles stranded outside Jawahar Tunnel, 20-25 vehicles stranded near lower Munda, 75 vehicles stranded inside Tunnel. These include around 20 Light Motor Vehicles.  The stranded passengers were provided with biscuits and eatables by District Administration, Anantnag. Movement of vehicles started and it is expected that the road will be cleared by evening.

 

Around 50 vehicles stranded at Kawnar on Gulmarg-Tangmarg (G-T) road. CEO GDA, Asstt Director Tourism Gulmarg, SHO Tangmarg, SHO Gulmarg and Engineers of MED and R&B cleared the G-T road and stranded vehicles are being cleared.

 

Snow clearance machine deployed for Kokernag-Larnoo road.

Three snow clearance machines deployed in Ganderbal district on following sectors:

Ganderbal-Kulan- Baba Nagri –Sumbal- Garind, Ganderbal- local, Ganderbal-Gutlibagh

SDM Sopore deployed one tipper, JCB, and tractor alongwith manpower for clearance of lanes and bye lanes in Sopore.

 

Airport/Runway:

 

Snow clearance machine deployed at 3 AM for clearance of Indira Gandhi road (Airport road). Machine redeployed at 9 AM.

Clearance of runway in progress (By beacon authorities). All flights cancelled due to poor visibility.

 

Review on 30.12.2010:

 

Review meeting was convened by Div Com Kashmir with all DCs, Com SMC and Chief Engineers at 1.30 PM today and they were instructed to ensure that public grievances are redressed and essential services are maintained.

 

The power availability in Kashmir Valley has increased from 268 MW at 1PM to 364 MW at 3.00 PM.

Damages due to snowfall:

One residential house of Gh. Hassan Teeli resident of Pahalgam and two residential houses of Mushtaq Sheikh Son in law of Ab Gani.

House of Mushtaq,  Fayaz, Ramzan sons of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh R/o Guree Tehsil Bijbehara got damaged due to snowfall.

Residential house of Ghulam Nabi Khan S/o Mehda R/o Guchan Sheikhpora Tehsil Dooru got damaged as a walnut tree fell on their residential house.
