Annual grand function held at residence at Faqir Ahad Zargar

Srinagar, February 03: Dr. Samoon, Yousuf Jameel, Amin Kaamil, Bakshi Qayoom awarded

        A grand annual function was held at the residence of Sufi Poet, Late Faqir Ahad Zargar at Narwara Iddgah here today. The function was organized by Ahad Zargar Foundation.

            Prof. Ghulam Rasool Malik presided over the function while Vice Chancellor, Central University, Prof. Abdul Wahid Qureshi was the chief guest on the occasion. The eminent writers and the poets including Prof. Margoob Banhali and Prof. Rehman Rahi were also present on the occasion.

            Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon was presented award by the Ahad Zargar Research Foundation for his best administrative capabilities. The Foundation awarded well known Journalist, Mr. Yousuf Jameel also for his services in the field of Journalism, while other two awards were presented to famous poet Amin Kaamil for his literary work and Bakshi Abdul Qayoom for his social services. Mr. Shakeel-u-Rehman received the award on behalf of his father while Bakshi Ghulam Hassan, the brother of Bakshi Qayoom received the award on behalf of his brother.

            The Foundation Chairman, Zareef Ahmad Zareef and General Secretary, Mr. Rafiq Raaz also spoke on the occasion.

            The magazine of Ahad Zargar Foundation “Rang Bar” was also released on the occasion.

            Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Asgar Samoon thanked the Ahad Zargar Foundation for presenting him award. He hoped that Foundation will continue its services in the field of Kashmiri Literature particularly Sufi poetry in the valley.

            Later, he paid obeisance at Asar Sharief Masjid, Noorshah, Narwara and offered fateh at the Mazar of Late Ahad Zargar.

            He also visited interior adjacent areas where various deputations met him with their problems. Dr. Samoon assured them that their problems would be redressed.

Div Com inspects various ongoing development works at Bla 

            Srinagar, February 03: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Major General GOC, DIG, Baramulla and other senior officers today inspected various under construction projects and works in Baramulla District. He Inspected of under construction 176 meter long bridge in Baramulla Ladoora and was informed that Rs. 11.65 crore are being spent on the bridge and would be completed by December 2012. Whileas, construction of Gihama steel bridge, 62 Meter long, coming up at a cost of Rs 4.38 crore will be completed upto April 15, 2011 and Rs. 3 crore have been spent on the said bridge so far.    

            Divisional Commissioner also inspected ongoing works at Toolibal bridge at Sopore bypass road. He directed the concerned agencies to setup the work on the ongoing projects so that these works are completed within stipulated time.

            During his visit a deputation of people met the Divisional Commissioner and apprised him about the various problems confronting them. He assured the people that their problems will be addressed soon and on the spot he directed the concerned officers on the spot to pay special attention to the problems of people.
