Red Cross Complex to come up at a cost of Rs 10 Crores

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, reviewed the progress of the plans for construction of Red Cross Complex building at Srinagar.
The
meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mehraj
Ahmed Kakroo, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation,
Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development
Authority, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Secretary General, Indian
Red Cross Society, Feroze Ahmed, Additional Commissioner,
Kashmir & Secretary,
Regional Red Cross, Kashmir, Abdul Majid Wani, Asst
Commissioner Nazool, Dr. Nasir Naqash, Head Disaster
Management Kashmir, Aamir Ali and senior Architects from
Architects Organisation.
The Red Cross Complex is to be constructed at the existing site on Red Cross Road where 8 kanals and 11 marlas of land is available. It will be a multi-storied building and will be constructed in two blocks at a cost of Rs. 10.47 Crore and the extra space will be rented out by Red Cross to Institutions for commercial use.
Divisional
Commissioner, Kashmir directed
the Architects Organisation to ensure that the building is
made barrier-free to ensure smooth movement of people with
disabilities. He asked the engineers to ensure that the
building is designed to be earthquake resistant and should be
of traditional architecture. Adequate parking space should be
ensured in the design. The work on the construction of the
building would start, after obtaining proper building
permission from Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
