Sagar for early completion of city projects

DECEMBER 22: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj,
Parliamentary Affairs and Law, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar on
Friday stressed upon the officers for early completion of city
projects, so that civic amenities and infrastructure
facilities get augmented and pristine glory of the city is
restored.
The Minister was addressing a high level meeting held at Banquet Hall, Srinagar. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Sheikh Mushtaq, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Superintending Engineer R&B, Darbari, Director Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Superintending Engineer Circular Road, officers of LAWDA and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
Sagar took stock of ongoing developmental works including the progress on various circular road projects including Syed Meerakh Shah Road, City Circular Road, K.Z. Road, besides Dastageer Sahib Project, City Gate Baba Demb Construction, Hazrat Bulbul Shah Project, City Drainage, Baghi Roop Singh road, beautification of the Banks of river Jehlum from Khankhai Moula to New Zaina Kadal and acquisition of structures of High Schools from Kalashpora to Nowhatta.
While reviewing the progress of Meerakh Shah road, the Minister stressed upon the concerned engineers to remove all the bottlenecks coming in the way of developing this road. He asked the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to monitor the progress of all those city projects taken in hand by the present Government. He said there is no dearth of funds but there is need to early completion of the construction works. He stressed the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar to speed up the compensation process.
The Minister also stressed the need for early completion of the Dastageer Sahib project. He said there is a great scope for pilgrimage tourism in Srinagar city and developing the pilgrimage sites not only strengthen the economic conditions of the surrounding areas but the religious people can avail spiritual atmosphere, besides the outsiders will come to know about the centuries old our beautiful culture.
Mr. Sagar also enquired about the proposal of better transportation from Zero bridge to Chattabal. He said to reduce traffic pressure on Srinagar city, a number of projects including Galander to Narbal six lane bye pass, widening of Srinagar city roads etc. are under execution.
Taking stock of the construction activities of Bulbul Shah Sahib Project, the Minister asked the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation to complete it on priority basis. The Commissioner assured that the project will be completed by March 2012.
Mr. Sagar also gets feedback about the steps taken for construction of city gate at Baba Demb and regarding the progress on the city drainage scheme coming up at a cost of Rs. One crore, developing Baghi Roop Singh road and beautification of the Banks of river Jehlum from Khankhai Moula to New Zaina Kadal.
Mr. Sagar instructed the officers that the decisions taken today would be implemented in letter and spirit. He said by completing these city projects will lead in reducing traffic hazards/jams and will present better position of the Srinagar city. He said the Srinagar city is a hub of tourism, trade and cultural activities and should be a model city, he added.
