Committee visits Tyndale Biscoe School Tangmarg:

Tangmarg 20th October 2010: A joint Committee headed by Mr. Mustaffa Kamaal, Hon’ble MLA visited the gutted school building of Tyndale Biscoe at Tangmarg. The team comprised of Bishop P.K. Samantaroy, Church of North India & Chairman, Tyndale Biscoe & Mallinson Society, Aamir Ali, Head Disaster Management, Kashmir, Rahul Kaul, Administrator Tyndale Biscoe School, Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, Former Dy. Director Sericulture Deptt, Virji Kaul-Parent, Rajinder Kaul Headmaster, Wali Mohammed Executive Engineer Gulmarg Development Authority, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Tehsildar & SHO Tangmarg.

The school building was set ablaze by a violent mob on 13th September 2010 and the students have been temporarily relocated to Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare Dhobiwan, so that they could appear for their examinations.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon authorised release of 15 prefabricated huts, so that the school can be temporarily rebuilt at Tangmarg and the education of the students does not suffer, till the time the permanent school building is reconstructed. It was assured that the construction of the prefab huts will start as soon as the debris of the gutted building are removed. Hon'ble Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir and the locals alongwith parents have been demanding that the school building should be reconstructed at its orginal location at Tangmarg and have assured that they would actively participate in the reconstruction process.

Later,  the members of the committee attended a farewell function organised for outgoing students of Class 10th of Tyndale Biscoe School at Dhobiwan. The students who spoke on the occasion made emotional speeches and wanted to know why their school building was targeted. Mementos were distributed to all the outgoing school children.
