Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon and MLA Gurez , Mr
nazir Ahmed Gurezi reviewed the supply position of essential
commodities of Gurez, including ration, K.Oil, LPG, Electricity,
Agriculture and services of BSNL etc.
It
was informed that 21158 .37 qtls of Rice has been dispatched to
Gurez against the target of 23371 qtls. The new target of stocking
of foodgrins has now been fixed at 27000 qtls. Divisional
Commissioner asked the concerned authorities to complete the
stocking of foodgrains before the winter sets in so that people do
not confront any problem.
It
was also informed in the meeting that 10970 qtls of atta ,Sugar 1440
qtls, K.Oil 1.12 lakh liters, and 2900 LPG Cylinders have been
stocked in the Tehsil Gurez So far. However, the new targets fixed
in the meeting would also be dumped before onset of winter.
Regarding
the agriculture production, the meeting was informed that the high
yielding seeds of 50 qtls of wheat,30 qtls of Pulses , 50 qtls of
Oats has been supplied to the farmers.Besides,1500 qtls of Potato
seeds are also being arranged for the supply to the Gurez.
The
meeting was also informed that 16 Gen.sets are presently functioning
in various areas of Gurez Tehsil for which 512000 literes of diesel
has been stocked while remaining diesel is also being arranged soon.
Regarding
providing of Communication facilities, the meeting was told that
mobile services by BSNL would be augmented within three weeks time.

Najeebullah, SSP, Srinagar, Ashiq Bukhari, Additional
Commissioner, Kashmir Mohammed Amin Wani, Head of Disaster
Management, Aamir Ali, senior officers of Tourism Department and
other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
Divisional
Commissioner was the Chief Guest and other Guests of Honor
appreciated the extra ordinary contribution of Tourism Department
for developing a unique park with modern illumination and river view
sites, and heritage woodwork spread on walls and ceilings of a
protruding balcony in the centre of the park. The green carpet
spread on the entire park is decorated with well placed shadowy
trees and multi colored flower plants.
In
the evening, the lights emanating from house boats lined in the rows
near the banks from the other side of Rajbagh Convent road has added
to the charm of the surroundings. The unique park is surrounded by
water-oriented canals specially designed and engineered by Flood
department, which has enhanced the charm of the mini-island named as
On
the side of the island, the historic bund has been developed by the
Irrigation & Flood Control Department, and restored it back to
the times when it was abode of foreign travelers and tourists. The
bund has a tourist related history, mostly documented in western
countries praising the paradise on earth particularly the Jehlum
view.
The
present government, under Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has taken
extra ordinary measures to develop all historic sites and special
attention has been given to the development of river banks.

trial-run of the Motorised Musical "Cruise" was
inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and is being
considered as first step to make Jehlum more attractive for
local as well as non-local tourists.
Divisional
Commissioner was informed that Tourism Department has an ambitious
programme to install musical fountain on both sides of the river.
Similarly, the Flood Control Department has decided to decorate both
the banks of the river up to Chattabal-Veer in first phase. The
historical shrines, which are located mostly on the banks of the
river are being developed in a planned manner so that tourists, who
would like to visit these shrines from the river side are able to
have the glimpses of
Earlier,
the Divisional Commissioner took a meeting in his chamber for
expediting the development of Bulbul Shah Shrine, which is located
between Nawakadal and Aalikadal and Chief Engineer, Flood Department
assured that river banks near the shrine will be developed under the
programme, while as Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar revealed that
there is also a programme of developing Maharaj Gunj area from
Zainakadal to Khankah shrine as a heritage spot. Director Tourism
assured that that heritage gates will be constructed near the shrine
for making entry to these holy places more attractive.
