1500 kanals of land cleared from encroachers in Ganderbal

11th October 2010: Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Mr.Pramod Jain and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today held meeting with district officers of Ganderbal to review the performance of Revenue Department.During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Ms. Dilshad Khan informed that 1500 kanals of land  have been cleared from encroachers from last one year on which some of the prestigious Institutions like District Hospital,Mini Secretariat, Bus Adda and Central University are coming up .

DC Ganderbal said that Rs.2.31lakhs as mutation fee and Rs.97,800 as fee for issuance of abstracts has been realized during the last one year. The meeting also disclosed that 54 Villages have been measured while in 47 Villages fresh records have been prepared under Settlement. It was also said that 100 kanals of land has been handed over to Beacons authorities for widening Srinagar-Sonamarg -Gumri road while Rs.28 cr. paid to the land owners as compensation. 355 kanals for 12 roads under PMGSY has been handed over to the PMGSY, while Rs.6 crores have been paid as compensation to the land owners. Land acquisition for  Central University Kashmir coming up in the district are on priority and revenue papers of all four villages have been submitted to the higher authorities. Land compensation for three major bridges at Gund Roshan, Gund Rehman and Ganiwan has also been paid to the land owners. 184 kanals have been acquired for Police Training School , Manigam, while 2300 Applications out of 6070have been dispatched so far under Roshni programme and occupants of 808 kanals have been conferred for propriety rights.

Financial Commissioner (Revenue) stressed upon the Officers for quick disposal of SRO 43 and State Subject cases. He had detailed interaction with the revenue staff besides Numberdars and Chowkidars of the district and stressed upon them to work with zeal and dedication.

 

Div Com Kashmir asks NGO’s, health institutions for mass awareness camp against drug addiction 

11th October 2010 – With a view to check drug addiction in the valley, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir , Mr. Asgar Hassan Samoon convened a high level meeting of civil, police and non-governmental organization here today. Expressing concern over increasing alarming rate of drug addiction particularly during last 15 years, Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the health institutions as well as non-governmental organizations to conduct awareness camps across the valley particularly in the areas identified in the study purpose. He also appealed the people to extend their cooperation to the NGOs fighting against the drug addiction.

            The meeting was informed that as many as 3500 such patients visited J&K Police De-addiction centre Srinagar from March 2008 to October 2010, while 462 patients were registered for admission. It was stated that 211 patients have been admitted and treated in the centre during the same period. In addition, several patients were given medicare facilities in the awareness camps held at Sopore, B.Ed College and KGP College Srinagar.

It was informed that according study conducted by United Nations Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) in 2008, there were as many as 60,000 drug substance abuse cases reported in the valley.

            The meeting was attended by Meharaj Ahmed Kakroo, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Yoginder Kaul, DIG Crime, Mohammed Amin Wani, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Margoob, HOD Psychiatry Deptt,  Abdul Qayoom SP Hqr Srinagar, Qazi Pervez, Dy. SP PCR Srinagar, Ali Mohmmed Shah, Dy. SP Special Branch, Rubina, Dy. Director Social Welfare, Nazir Ahmed, Dy Drug Controller, representatives of various NGOs,  and prominent citizens.
