Fixes rates for live sheep, got, poultry birds

upon all the concerned divisional level officers to
ensure that the people do not confront any problem on the eve
of Eid-ul-Azha in the Kashmir Division, the Divisional
Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar H. Samoon said that the
foodgrains and other essentials should be stocked at all the
ration depots across the valley besides ensuring the
availability of sheep for ‘Qurbani’ purposes. He also
asked Director Sheep Husbandry and Managing Director, Sheep
and Wool Board to coordinate with Director CA&PD and
Commissioner, SMC in this behalf. Dr. Samoon instructed the
Poultry development officer to ensure availability of poultry
birds at various sale centres in addition to mobile vans.
The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a high level meeting of officers here today convened to review the Eid arrangements.
The meeting decided that ten sale centres (Mandis) of sheep and goats would be setup at Eid Gah, Soura near ration depot, Nowhatta Chowk, Higher Secondary School near Baghi Ali Mardan Khan, Rainawari ground near Zindshah Masjid, Madanpora Chatabal, Jawahir Nagar near receiving station, Shali store, Shaheed Gunj, Tengpora Bye-Pass, Barzulla near B&J Hospital. The rate for live sheep and goat for ‘Qurbani’ has been fixed at Rs. 100 and Rs. 95 respectively. Similarly, poultry birds would be sold at Rs. 80 per kg.
It was also decided that nobody will be allowed to conduct sales of sheep and goats for ‘Qurbani’ purposes on the road sides and if anybody found guilty, would be dealt with under law. The price lists for the purpose would be displayed at all the 10 mandis.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, SSP, Srinagar, Chief Engineer Power, SE R&B, Director Sheep and Managing Director Sheep and Wool Development Additional Commissioner and other officers.
