With the completion of a 100 feet span bridge at Nurla, constructed jointly by Army engineers and GREF, road between Leh and Srinagar was thrown open for traffic at 6PM on 13th August 2010.

The bridge was completed in a record time of 48 hours. About 150 vehicles, including 60 light motor vehicles left Leh for Srinagar. Senior Officers of Army, GREF, SDM Khaltsi and I/C PP Khalsi were present on the spot.
