A fire mock drill was organised in the Divisional Commissioner kashmir's office on 29th August 2009 under the Urban Earthquake Vulnerability Reduction Project sponsored by GoI -UNDP. The mock drill was organised in collaboration with Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services and J&K IMPA to test the level of disaster preparedness.

A drill and training programme was organised for the officers and staff of Div Com office, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar's office and other offices located in the complex. The programme started with a power point presentation by Dr GM Dar of IMPA who explained about our vulnerabilities to disasters and how to cope up with them. Later a fire mock drill was held in which a mock fire was depicted and rescue operations conducted.

(How to Use Fire Extinguishers)
The officials were also taught the use of fire extinguishers. Around 15 senior officers and senior media persons were asked to judge the mock drill as Observers, so that faults could be identified and rectified in future. The mock drill was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Addl DC Srinagar, Aamir Ali OSD and many senior level officers and staff.
